A Little Goes A Long Way

It Pays To Save Water
One of the best things you can do to save water indoors is replace older toilets and clothes washers with new water efficient models. And the great thing is, we'll pay you to do it! When you purchase and install a qualifying fixture, the City will credit you up to $125.

BEFORE YOU BUY, read rebate rules, eligibility guidelines and application forms or call 720-977-6500 for more information.

Check For Leaks
Did you know that on average 13% of household water is lost to leaks? Toilet leaks can be silent and can waste up to 200 gallons per day. It's easy to check toilet flappers for leaks. Simply lift the lid of your toilet tank. Place a few drops of food coloring or a dye tablet in the tank. Wait 10 minutes. If the colored water seeps from the tank into the bowl, you have a leak. Toilet flappers can be easily replaced if you do detect a leak.

Thornton Water Drive
All year long, Thornton water customers need to be Water-Saving Champions! The Thornton Water Drive is a way for every community member to work together for water conservation. It's about changing habits and being more aware of how we use our water resources. Explore the city, look for bus posters, print ads and community events. Learn new tips on saving water and put those reminders into practice to help your community. And take the pledge to save 10 gallons of water every day! If each home in Thornton saved 10 gallons a day, we could save over 150 MILLION gallons of water in just one year. Now that's a lot of water! Take the pledge.

Conservation Plan
The City of Thornton has developed a new Water Conservation Plan which establishes long-term water conservation goals that encourage efficient use of available water resources and reduces the amount of additional water needed to serve existing and future customers. The Water Conservation Plan was presented to Thornton City Council and unanimously adopted by Council on May 12, 2009. Thank you to the Thornton City Council and Mayor Hansen for your support. Public comment can be directed to the Water Resources Division 720-977-6500 or info@thorntonwater.com
